Why these are louder

Platforms differ in whether they normalise audio on playback, and the picture on short-form feeds is genuinely unclear — none of them publish their behaviour. What is consistent is that quieter audio tends to get lost against everything else in a feed.

The TikTok preset is mastered hotter than the others at around −9 LUFS. If you would rather set the level yourself, the YouTube preset on any sound is a conventional −14 LUFS and is a better starting point for mixing.

Layering with trending audio

If your video already uses a trending sound, adding effects on top means exporting a mixed audio track from your editor rather than relying on TikTok's in-app layering, which will duck one against the other unpredictably. Mix it in CapCut or your NLE, then upload as a single track.
