People are right to be wary of downloading audio from soundboard sites. It is a real category of risk, and nobody in this one talks about it. Here is exactly what happens to every file before it reaches you.
Nothing uploaded here is served back to you as-is. Every file is decoded to raw audio, trimmed, normalised, and then re-encoded from scratch. What you download is a new file generated from the audio waveform — not the original container.
This matters because the usual way something malicious hides in an audio file is not in the audio at all. It is in the container around it — a polyglot file that is a valid MP3 and a valid archive at the same time, an oversized embedded cover image, or data appended after the audio stream ends. Decoding and re-encoding discards all of it, because none of it survives the trip through raw samples.
Content-Disposition: attachment and X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff, so your browser cannot be tricked into treating one as something executable. There is no bundled installer, no download manager, no “click here to start your download” interstitial, and no countdown. A download link on this site is a direct link to an audio file. If you ever see anything else, you are not on this site.
