Two and a half billion copyright claims were processed on YouTube in 2025, almost all of them automatically. Every soundboard on the internet stays silent about it. We would rather tell you what you are downloading.
Every sound on this site carries one of three ratings, shown on its card and on its page.
Original recordings, public domain material, or audio we hold explicit permission for. Use these anywhere, including on a monetised channel or in client work. If a green sound ever causes you a problem, tell us and we will investigate and remove it.
Widely circulated audio whose origin we cannot verify. In practice most creators use sounds like these without incident, but an automated system may match one against a reference recording. If your channel is monetised and you would rather not think about it, filter to green.
Audio derived from recognisable commercial media. You can listen here for reference, but we do not offer these for download and we do not carry advertising on their pages. Where we can, we point you at a cleared alternative that does the same job.
These ratings are our honest assessment, not a legal guarantee, and nothing here is legal advice. Copyright in short audio clips is genuinely unsettled, and an automated matching system can flag material that no human would consider infringing. What we can promise is that we will never tell you a sound is cleared when we do not actually know that.
If you made a sound on this site and you want it removed, or credited, or linked back to your channel, tell us and we will do it. We aim to action removal requests within twenty-four hours and we do not argue about it first.
