Will using meme sounds get my video claimed?
It depends entirely on where the sound came from. Audio derived from commercial recordings — film dialogue, music, trailer libraries — can match an automated copyright reference and trigger a claim. Original recordings and public-domain material cannot. The sound being short or widely used does not protect you.

Automated matching operates at enormous scale and almost entirely without human review. Rights holders usually choose to monetise a claim rather than block the video, which means the first you hear of it is often a revenue split rather than a takedown.
A claim is not the same as a strike. Claims affect monetisation; strikes affect the channel. Most meme-audio claims are the former, which is why so many creators use these sounds anyway and treat it as a cost.
Every sound on this site carries a risk rating for exactly this reason. Green means original, public domain or explicitly cleared. Amber means we cannot verify the origin. Red means it is derived from recognisable commercial media, and we do not offer those for download at all.
